At Sussman Law, our criminal practice
consists primarily of misdemeanor and felony cases and we handle everything from traffic matters and DUI cases, to drug offesnes or to murder cases. Our personal injury practice
consists primarily of auto accidents and products liability and workers’ compensation cases, which consist of on the job injuries arising out of and in the course and scope of employment.
The main geographical focus of the practice is concentrated in the Augusta Judicial Circuit which is comprised of Burke County, Columbia County and Richmond County
with occasional cases taken in surrounding counties. Likewise, in South Carolina, the focus of the practice is cases in Aiken County, McCormick County and Edgefield County with an occasional client from Lexington or Barnwell. If we do not accept a client based on the location of their case, we can always make a referral.
Mr. William Sussman is admitted to the Superior Courts of Georgia
as well as the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court. He is also admitted to all Federal Courts in Georgia in the Northern, Southern and Middle Districts as well as the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. In South Carolina, Mr. William Sussman is admitted to all Circuit Courts as well as the South Carolina Supreme Court and Court of Appeals. He is also admitted to practice in the U. S. District Court for the District of South Carolina including Aiken, Columbia, Charleston, Greenville and Florence Divisions.
Robert Sussman is admitted to all Superior, State, Magistrate, Municipal, Probate and Administrative Courts of Georgia and the Southern District of Georgia's Federal Court. He has appeared in the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Robert routinely appears in the Circuit Courts, Family Courts, Magistrate and Municipal Courts throughout South Carolina as well as the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the District of South Carolina's Federal Court.

In their combined 49 years of experience, William and Robert Sussman have handled a wide range of cases covering various locations in Georgia and South Carolina with a primary focus in the CSRA. These cases have involved personal injury cases with settlements in the range of $5,000.00 to over $1,000,000.00 and criminal cases that range anywhere from DUI cases to Death Penalty Murder cases, and appeals up to the Supreme Courts.
Meet Our Team
Mr. William J. Sussman
William J. Sussman was born in New Jersey in 1952. He attended University of Wisconsin in Madison obtaining his BA Degree in Philosophy in 1974. Mr. Sussman then resided in a variety of locations throughout the country and worked in various positions as a laborer for the Union Pacific Railroad as well as various sugar and potato factories in Idaho and eventually settled in Los Angeles. After two years of working in Los Angeles, Mr. Sussman applied for and became admitted to the Emory University School of Law which he attended from 1976 through 1979. Mr. Sussman obtained a Juris Doctor Degree from Emory University Law School in 1979 and then practiced briefly in Columbus, Georgia finally settling in Augusta, Georgia in 1980.
William J. Sussman is a licensed practicing attorney admitted to the Bars of Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. He has been practicing law since his first admission to the Georgia Bar in 1979 and concentrates specifically in criminal law, personal injury and workers’ compensation. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1980 and the South Carolina Bar in 1981 entitling him to practice law in all three states.
After graduating in 1979, Mr. Sussman engaged in private practice with the firm of Martin Brantley Acord for approximately one year after which time he started his own practice and has been a sole practitioner since that time. He has been at his current location at 347 Greene Street in downtown Augusta since 1990.
Mr. Robert Sussman
Robert Sussman was born and raised in Augusta and is a 2005 graduate of Augusta Preparatory Day School. Robert attended The University of Georgia's Terry School of Business, where he graduated with a BBA in Marketing. He received his juris doctorate degree in 2013 from the Charleston School of Law and was a member of the Moot Court.
Robert is licensed to practice law in Georgia and South Carolina. Robert Specializes in criminal defense, including DUI, drug offenses, weapons charges and all other criminal cases. Robert's attention to detail and knowledge of the law has resulted in many of his clients having their charges dismissed or reduced.
Robert also handles car wrecks and other personal injuries, fighting against the insurance companies to make sure his clients get as much money as they deserve.
In addition to his passion and expertise in criminal and injury law, Robert represents family law clients facing tough divorces, custody battles, and paternity and child support issues.
Robert is a fierce advocate in the courtroom who fights for his clients with professionalism and integrity. When he is not in the office or in the courtroom defending his clients, Robert enjoys spending time on the water and working out.

Mrs. Suzanne Abbott, Legal Assistant
Suzanne Abbott was born in Valdosta, Georgia in 1969. She graduated from Bradwell High School in Hinesville, Georgia in 1987. She worked as a Legal Assistant and attended paralegal classes in Savannah, Georgia and later moved to Aiken, South Carolina. Suzanne is William Sussman’s Legal Assistant/Paralegal. She has worked for Mr. Sussman for sixteen years and has been employed as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal for twenty four years.
Mrs. Debra Sussman, Legal Investigator
Debra Sussman was born in 1956 in Virginia and has been married to Bill Sussman since 1986. Previously in real estate for 20 years Debra has been the legal investigator for the law firm for the past seven years. Her duties include interviewing witnesses, organizing files and assisting in preparing cases for trial.
